Walking Together

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Ephesians 4:1-7

I am not strong enough to walk this road
I need an arm, I need a hand
you are my pumping heart and the oxygen I need
and when I pretend to be alone
it is a way to protect my heart
that we share.

We are never at our best divided
our strength comes in our union
God is found in the center of our circle
in the smoke and fire of our counsel
God dances and sings with us.

When the night falls down I hear
your breathing reminds me of the solid earth
the surrounding sky and the love of God
which animates and calms us all.

Today I lay my gifts on the altar
the reds and pinks of this morning light
I offer what I have so that we may walk
side by side, strong and dependent
brothers and sisters chanting as we go.
